DAYTON -- The local American Heart Association will host its 18th Annual Heart Ball, âIgnite the Magic,â on March 23 in Dayton.
More than 300 guests will join event co-chairs John and Jane Moyer of FirstLight HomeCare to honor local heart disease survivors and celebrate life during the event. The Heart Ball will be emceed this year by Marsha Bonhart of WDTN, herself a stroke survivor.
âWe are excited to be celebrating heart and stroke survivors and to be âIgniting the Magicâ at this yearâs heart ball,â said John Moyer, chairman of the 2013 Heart Ball.
âThis is a great opportunity to celebrate loved ones affected by cardiovascular disease, as survivors are the true beneficiaries of the mission of the American Heart Association,â said Sybil Martin, Heart Ball Director for the Miami Valley Division
The evening will feature the story of Payton Herres, a 12-year-old heart survivor. Guests are invited to join the American Heart Association for a champagne reception followed by a night of fine dining, live and silent auction and dancing all night long to live entertainment provided by Rodney the Band. Proceeds from the special appeal will benefit children with heart disease and help educate children and families about living healthier lifestyles.
Tickets are $150 per person or $250 per person for a patron ticket that includes recognition in the program booklet. The 2013 Heart Ball is working to raise more than $240,000. Proceeds support the associationâs research, education, and advocacy programs throughout the Miami Valley, including research at Wright State University School of Medicine, fitness programs in area schools, and public health advocacy campaigns.
