DAYTON -- Dameon Wesley was apologetic Tuesday morning as he was being led from the Safety Building to the Jail after being arrested over night.

The 39-year-old Wesley said he was sorry to Dawan Culpepper, the mother of the 13-year-old girl who was shot and killed Sunday.

"I'm sorry I took your world away from you, Dawan. It was not my intent," Wesley told our news crew, as he was led by police across a parking lot. "I guess God do get his justice, and that's why I'm right here right now."

Wesley said he was paroled to show that he could succeed outside prison walls.

"They let me out of prison to show that this could work and it wasn't about them, it was about my choices I made individually, that as a result has led me to walk this long walk of shame right now."

Wesley also apologized to the people in prison.

"There are still good guys up there in the joint that deserve their freedom. I'm just not one of them," Wesley said.

"I made some choices I can't take back," he said.
