DAYTON -- Christopher Joseph Knox, 37, has been charged with Burglary after an investigation of recent break-ins of vacant houses where copper and other salvagable materials were taken.
Oakwood and Kettering Police investigators identified Knox as a suspect in at least one of these burglaries.
Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck Jr. said the investigation is ongoing and other charges might be filed.
Knox is in jail, being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
âThis was a complex investigation," Oakwood Police Chief Alex Bebris said. "In many of these cases, the trail of investigation was cold to begin with because the residences were vacant. The investigators from our department here in Oakwood working with those from Kettering did a good job in putting this all together and organizing a case that will hold this offender accountable.â
Heck commends both Kettering and Oakwood Police departments for their work.
"Vacant homes are always a concern but they become a much larger problem when thousands of dollars in damages occur in addition to the value of the copper,â Heck said.
