DAYTON -- Timothy J. Hill, 26, of Xenia was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison for aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and other charges.
Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said Hill crossed the centerline of Clyo Road in Washington Township on June 3, 2011, and struck a car headâon. The crash critically injured the 84âyearâold driver and killed her 83âyearâold passenger, Helen Dodson.
Investigators said they discovered the defendant was under the influence of a prescription sleeping aid, for which he had no valid prescription, at the time of the crash. Heck said Hill tested positive for THC (a component of marijuana) in his blood.
The defendant was found guilty of two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault and a count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. In addition to the four-year prison sentence, Hillâs driverâs license is suspended for life.
âThis defendantâs bad decision to drive while impaired resulted in one victim dying and the other victim being critically injured,â Heck said.
