MIAMI VALLEY -- The area is preparing for what could be some nasty winter weather on Friday morning.
Miami Valley AAA has some suggestions for drivers to get prepared for the impending storm:
⢠If your vehicle is parked outside, place a tarp, blanket or sheet over your vehicle before the freezing rain begins. If you cannot cover the entire vehicle cover at least one of your doors so you can gain access.
⢠To prevent car doors from freezing, wipe down the rubber seal on the inside of the vehicle's door and apply WD-40 to the molding with a cloth.
⢠Keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid gas line freeze-up.
To help prevent icing use silicone or graphite spray, sprayed into the lock. If your lock is already frozen, warm up the key, using your hands or a hair dryer. Commercial deicers are also available at local hardware stores. AAA does not recommend pouring hot water into or around your door lock because the water will refreeze.
ABC 22/FOX 45 will have continuing coverage of the winter storm online at on-air, starting at 4:37 a.m. on ABC 22.
