FAIRBORN -- Mourning a graduate of Fairborn High School and Wright State University who was killed in Afghanistan. Christina Maddock, 27, was working as a defense contractor there. Now she's lost her life just as a friend, and fellow Fairborn graduate Jesse Snow did two years ago. Snow was killed in the line of duty.
ABC 22/FOX 45 Reporter Liza Danver spoke exclusively to the father of that soldier who is still grieving for his son, and now for Christina Maddock too.
In addition to being classmates, Snow and Maddock were also both members of the ROTC. Jesse's father, John, says learning of Christina's death brought back the painful memories of the day he found out his own son was killed.
Monday, members of Christina's brother's fraternity at Wright State were raising money for her family. Little information surrounding her death is being released, but friends are saying she was shot.
"Jesse told me when he was over there, he said 'Dad they don't call it the wild wild west for nothing'," John Snow said. "My wife and I were terribly sick because we know what the parents are going through. This is a person's worst nightmare, for the parents, for the entire family."
Christina and Jesse were friends. They even exchaned emails just days before Jesse died. Christina was working overseas as a defense contractor for a company based in Colorado. She had only been there a few months.
"She's up there with Jesse right now. She was a good person, my son was a good person. She and Jesse are up there gabbing away right now," John Snow said.
Christina's brother's fraternity has already raised about $5,000 to help her family with expenses.
