Gold-Painted Dayton Man Charged with Abusing Harmful Intoxicants

DAYTON -- A 47-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after police saw him walking in the road, then charged him with Abusing Harmful Intoxicants when police noticed gold-colored spray paint around his nose, mouth, face and hands.

Dewayne Charles Geary of Dayton was picked up for walking along Walnut Street, near the Oregon District about 4 a.m. Monday.

Police said Geary told them he had kicked the huffing habit but a little voice told him to do it. Geary continued to talk about his huffing activities after his arrest and while at the Montgomery County Jail reportedly apologized for huffing the toluene fumes from the paint but insisted that Jesus told him it was OK to do it.

Police said Geary was arrested on two previous occasions for Abusing Harmful Intoxicants.
