DAYTON--A local high school invited the community into their new building while giving back to others.
Belmont High School held a canned food drive today.
One canned good got diners a free meal of hamburgers and hot dogs.
All canned goods and monetary donations will go to Belmont Methodist Church.
The principal says the school is trying to establish a culture of community service.
"We're really trying to develop that connection between Belmont High School and the Belmont community. Making sure the neighbors feel that we're giving back and are comfortable with our students and coming up to the school; creating Belmont High School as a community center,"said Belmont High School Principal Kenneth Kramer
Today was the first time the school put on the event, but the principal said it was a success and plans to do it again next year.
