DAYTON -- Robert Drive, between Third and Fifth streets in downtown Dayton, near Sinclair Community College, is closing this morning for about four years.
The detour signs are already in place and the orange barrels and signs are expected to be moved into position at 8 a.m.
ABC 22/FOX 45 Reporter Amber Watson has talked to some people who are already frustrated by the closure, which is part of the sweeping I-75 Reconstruction project.
Suggested detours are:
Southbound: Perry Street to Fourth Street.
Northbound: Fifth Street to Wilkinson.
While everyone adjusts to the new traffic patterns, Ohio Department of Transportation officials remind drivers to give themselves a little extra time getting around in downtown.
In related road construction news, the closure of First Street between Robert Drive and Red Cross Lane originally scheduled to begin today has been postponed until the end of the month. Scheduling has allowed for this section of First Street to remain open for local access a little longer.
Once closed, the affected section of First Street is scheduled to reopen in September 2017. The exact date of the closure is still to be announced.
This road closure is due to a contractor reconstructing this portion of First Street as part of the I-75 Modernization Project.
The official detour during this closure is: Salem Avenue/First Street to Robert Drive to Third Street to Wilkinson to First Street.
