UD to Offer Free Computer Training for Adults

DAYTON -- The University of Dayton in February will hold two basic computer and Internet training classes specifically designed for adults with little or no technology experience. The training is free and part of Connect Ohio’s Every Citizen Online (ECO) program.

“The Every Citizen Online program provides the University of Dayton with a unique opportunity to put its Catholic and Marianist philosophy of faith, service, and community into action,” said Michael McClure, information technologies training specialist at the University of Dayton. “Our instructors provide valuable computer training service to the community with a friendly, faith-based atmosphere. At the end of the day, every participant will walk away with a renewed sense of accomplishment, skill enhancement, and self-confidence. If you are interested in learning more about computers, how they work, and how you can access and utilize the Internet, register today.”

Training includes:
• 6 hours of coursework
• Computer basics (turning it on/off, using a mouse and cursor, opening programs)
• Introduction to the Internet (opening a browser, searching a topic)
• Overview of the many benefits of using the Internet (online shopping, accessing benefit information, such as Social Security, BMV, and healthcare, communicating with friends/family through e-mail and social media)
Class information:
• Session I
 - Thursday, February 21 and Friday, February 22 1 pm – 4 pm
• Session II
 - Thursday, March 7 and Friday, March 8 1 pm – 4 pm
• Session III
 - Thursday March 21 and Friday March 22 1 pm – 4 pm

The classes will be held at the University of Dayton, Main Campus, in the Roesch Library at 300 College Park, Dayton.
