XENIA -- Four people - including two children - are injured after a house fire Friday.
Investigators are still looking into the cause of this fire and the possible explosion that started it all.
"I saw flames. I just heard a big boom!" Xenia's James Nard said breathless.
The next few minutes for Nard were all instinct.
"He starts grabbing the woman and the man out of the window and they say 'there's kids in the house, there's kids in the house," Nard explained.
Just after 5:00 pm Friday fire officials say this home on East Second burst into angry flames after a loud explosion.
"This event caused the house to shift off of it's foundation, that caused structure damage, heavy fire and smoke, so it leads us to believe there was some type of explosion that sparked this fire," Xenia Fire Dept. Capt. Jason Kinley explained.
When emergency crews arrived, the home was already melting and unsafe for firefighters to enter. The four people inside - including two young children - were already out. largely due to the heroics of three strangers.
"I run through the front room and I couldn't see nothing because there was smoke and in the next room there was a little girl and I picked her up and carried her out," Nard said.
James tells us his friends pulled out a young boy.
"I'd say these folks were acting like heroes," Capt. Kinley said.
3 people were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries and those 2 kids did have minor burns from the fire - but everyone is alive and recovering.
