BRILLIANT -- A tragic day for fires across the state of Ohio.
Three children were killed in a trailer fire when authorities said a mother and her three children four-year-old twins and a 3-year-old were all inside the trailer when a kerosene heater caught fire.
"Evidently she was in the bathroom at the time when the kids were yelling, 'There's something on fire!' She came out it was a kerosene heater, evidently she was trying to get it outside. I understand people have to use anything they have to heat with, but kerosene heaters, I wouldn't have one," said Chief Don Hutchinson.
When the mother attempted to get the children out through a window she ended up falling out and couldn't get back inside.
She was taken to the hospital to be treated for burns and other injuries.
The fire remains under investigation tonight.
