DAYTON -- "I have a dream, that one day, this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed."

The words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. echoed through our nation's capitol in the spring of 1963. That same message is emphasized today as we celebrate his birthday today.

Dayton-area teens marked the day learning about Dr. King and how to go about solving problems without the use of violence.

"Teen Day" has taken place for the past 22 years and the celebration held at the Neon Theater today featured the movie "Belle" which was inspired by a true story of a mixed-race woman from England born in 1761 during the abolishing of slavery.

"We will use this movie to show the philosophy of Dr. King how he would have handled the situation using non violence," said Coordinator of Violence Prevention for Public Health Dayton and Montgomery County James Bolden.

The event was free and open to the public.
