DAYTON -- The University of Dayton Flyers have been on a roll since they dismissed two of their players.
They have won eight games in a row and gained national attention.
Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 was the first time the team was ranked this season. UD cracked the Top 25 of both the Associated Press and the Coaches Poll landing them at no.22. The Flyers hadn't been ranked since December 2013.
As the recognition is well deserved and much appreciated, it doesn't mean much in January said Coach Archie Miller.
"The rankings are the rankings and where you start is one thing. We're trying to finish. I think that the guys on this team understand how delicate it is because a year ago at this time things weren't going real well. You can get back into that situation real quick if you take your eyes off the prize."
The Flyers will now have that national ranking tested on Tuesday, Jan.20 when they play at the Belk Arena in Davidson, North Carolina. The Wildcats are 14-4 on the year and average more than 82 points a game.
