SPRINGBORO -- Michele Petrey, 44, will spend three months in a Warren County jail for stealing money from the Clearcreek Youth Soccer Association.
Petry of Springboro stole more than $64,000 from the league.
The investigation into Petrey's actions began last summer, when the Springboro Police Department received a complaint from new officers of the Clearcreek Youth Soccer Association about discrepancies in the organizationâs bank accounts. Authorities determined that Petrey made 101 unauthorized payments from the organizationâs accounts from 2008 through 2012 while she was treasurer of the organization and was solely responsible for handling all of the collections, payments, and accounting transactions.
As part of her sentence, Petrey must also spend three years on probation, do 100 hours community service, and pay restitution to the association. Petrey and her attorney have now paid back all the lost money.
If Petrey fails to comply with all of the terms of community control, she faces a possible prison sentence of 18 months.
