PERRY TOWNSHIP -- Ohio State Patrol has released the name of the 73-year-old man who was struck by a car while riding his bike. Troopers say Cecil Rankin, Jr. of Brookville was killed around 5:00 pm Tuesday evening.
The Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says a van struck the bicyclist near the intersection of Diamond Mill Road and Air Hill Road in Perry Township.
A popular bike path, the Wolf Creek Trail, also intersects within feet of this rural intersection.
State troopers say it appears the bike did not stop at the intersection and the van did not see the cyclist in time to stop. The driver of the van, who had two children with him, will not be cited as of now and was very cooperative with police during their investigation.
